Swimming

All children take part in swimming lessons every two weeks throughout the academic year.

Percentages of children within the year 6 cohort in the 2019/20 academic year who met the national curriculum requirement to:

87.5% can swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres;

87.5% can use a range of strokes effectively;

87.5% can perform a safe self-rescue in different water-based situations

School Sports Partnership
Schools in the cluster have each given up an amount of their Sports Premium allocation to be part of the Whitby School Sports Partnership (SSP). The SSP provides the school with a fantastic network of schools in the area to allow expertise to be shared to develop the delivery and management of PE in schools.

There is a large focus on inter-school competitions with the SSP in a wide range of sports including football, netball, rugby, cross country and athletics.  All of the competitions that the school are able to take part in through the SSP give children a great opportunity to represent their school and develop their own personal skills.

Staff in the SSP provide great support, and help schools plan calendars and timetables of events throughout the year.

Additional activities

We have also used the Sports Premium to provide high quality swimming training for staff.

Measuring the Impact

In order to ensure that all sports spending at Egton CE Primary School, including the Sports Premium Funding, is being used effectively, there is constant evaluation and analysis by the Headteacher.
